[#DUNGEON23] Mountain of the Frost Baron - Jan 16 to Jan 22, 2023

Week 3 - A Day Late
The third week of Dungeon23 has ended, and I'm a day late! Whoops. However, I'm very excited for the remainder of the month. The next couple weeks will be focusing on the special encounters within Craghopper Mine, the transitional areas between Craghopper Mine and Steepwalker Pass/Darkwater Crag, and the city of Argukhart!

Level 1, Rooms 16 through 22

  • Dungeon Level 1 Outline - Craghopper Mine
    • Entrances / Exits: External Entrance [CME] (heavily travelled, guarded, 15 minutes by foot to Lostone), Internal Entrance [CMI] (heavily travelled, guarded, enters directly into Argukhart), Crevasse Entrance [CMC] (heavily travelled, connects Steepwalker Trail to Craghopper Mine), Darkwater Crag [DWC] (descends to Dungeon Level 3)
    • Location: Within Arguk-Val, at and below ground-level
    • Threats: Centipedes (Giant), Goblins, Jellies (Green), Quarry Beetles

Level 1, Room 16 (L1R16)
This room is filled with stalactites and patches of damp dirt where bioluminescent mushrooms are growing.
  • Encounter: 3d6 Golden Fungi (Item, Consumable); if eaten, Save vs Poisoned 1.
  • Treasure: Golden Fungi (above), each worth 1 Silver piece.

    Level 1, Room 17 (L1R17)
    This room is a portion of the mine that has been fully mined out. Nothing of use remains.
    • Encounter: None.
    • Treasure: None.

    Level 1, Room 18 (L1R18)
    This room is a well-travelled corner of the mine, leading out to Steepwalker Trail.
    • Encounter: 1d4+1 Adventurer; Friendly but cocky; Currently hanging around their camp, counting out coins they have found.
      • Adventurer - 1 CR
        • HP: 5
        • AC: 12
        • AB: +1
        • Damage: 1d6 + 1
        • Special: Can use Ranged Attacks; Well-Equipped (+1 AC)
        • Save: 15
        • Skills: +0
    • Treasure: Misc. weapons/armor, 3 bedrolls, 5d6 Gold pieces.
      • Note: Obviously, this Treasure can only be taken if stolen from the Adventurers or taken by force.

    Level 1, Room 19 (L1R19)
    This room is a locked Craghopper Mine supply cache. It is unguarded but has a nasty smell.
    • Encounter: Locked Door (DC 15 to lockpick, DC 20 to break down).
      • The door and wall around the door are barred, similar to that of a jail cell. Smaller creatures, such as mice, can easily squeeze between the bars.
    • Treasure: Locked Chest (DC 20 to lockpick, contains 3d6 Gold pieces, See 1), Unlocked Chest (contains 3d6 Silver pieces, See 2), Barrel of rotting meat (See 3), 24 Misc. Containers (contain little value at all, perhaps a few torches or some rope).
      • Aftermath: If entered, the lock/door will be replaced after 1d4 days. If the culprits are ever discovered, the guards of Argukhart will likely arrest them for breaking & entering, as well as for suspected theft.

    Level 1, Room 20 (L1R20)
    This room contains an abandoned campsite, now covered in slime.
    • Encounter: 1d4+1 Jellies (Green); Hostile (will attack).
      • Jelly (Green) - 2 CR
        • HP: 10
        • AC: 12
        • AB: +2
        • Damage: 1d6 + 2
        • Special: Immune to Poison Damage and the Poisoned Affliction; Immune to falling Prone, being Grappled, and being Shoved; Sticky (Once per combat, can automatically Grapple a target on a hit)
        • Save: 14
        • Skills: +1
    • Treasure: 2 slimed Bedrolls, Each Jelly contains 2d4 Silver (presumably undigested from campers).

    Level 1, Room 21 (L1R21)
    This room is a small cavern containing pools of cold water.
    • Encounter: None.
    • Treasure: None.


    Level 1, Room 22 (L1R22)
    This room is a cavern containing stalagmites, a centipede nest, and skeletal remains. The outside of the cavern is posted a sign in Dwarvish that reads "Warning; Centipede Nest."
    • Encounter: 1d2+1 Centipedes (Giant); Hostile (will attack to defend their nest); Currently resting.
      • Centipede (Giant) - 2 CR
        • HP: 10
        • AC: 12
        • AB: +2
        • Damage: 1d6 + 2
        • Special: Can climb walls and upside down; Sickening (Causes the Affliction Enfeebled 1 on a hit)
        • Save: 14
        • Skills: +1
    • TreasureThe back of the cavern has a pile of Centipede eggs and refuse (See 1). Using 10 minutes (1 Dungeon Turn), players may sift through the pile and find the following treasure:
      • 3d6 Gold pieces.
      • 2d6 Silver pieces.
      • A single +1 Silvered Dagger.
